TIL Hosts African Asian Society Seminar

Trade and Investment Limpopo (TIL) today hosted an African Asian Society seminar at its Sandton office, Johanneburg. Themed ‘Investing in Limpopo – Benefits for South African and Foreign Investors’ the ongoing calendar event is aimed at profiling the province in terms of destination marketing and investment promotion.
Honourable Pitsi Moloto, Limpopo MEC for Economic Development, Environment and Tourism told delegates, comprised of senior diplomats, South African and foreign investors that Limpopo is keen to work with the Society to unlock any setbacks they might experience, in their engagement with the provincial administration.

This includes educating them on a review of the Provincial Growth and Development Strategy (PDGS), and phasing in of Limpopo 2030, a socio economic strategy that reflects on the province’s economic outlook, following the depletion of its mineral resources. Some of the key concerns include a need for the development of quality education as a means to ensure competent human capital, exploration of critical sectors such as Information and Communication Technology (ICT), arts and culture and advancement of the manufacturing sector through beneficiation of primary products. Moloto, however, cautioned that a critical balance needs to be struck between capital intensive investments and local economic development in host communities – through, among other instruments, procurement and business development.

Says TIL Acting CEO, Julius Mapatha, “TIL is both proud and humbled by being associated with the African Asian Society. We view partnerships and market intelligence exchange platforms such as these as pertinent in exploring, servicing and learning how various Africa – Asia institutional and product offerings affect trade promotion and facilitation. We are in this for the long haul.”
